Last week I had the AMAZING opportunity to go to Las Vegas for school. Every year Paul Mitchell has a convention called Caper in which the most prestigious hairdressers in the world (which of course are part of the Paul Mitchell family!) get together and put on a series of hairshows, classes, and a sweet party for students who had earned their right to be there. About 2,000 students from school around the country earn their right to go to this fabulous convention. At our school in Provo, only 50 students where going to be able to go, and I was one of those lucky ones! The Caper event was amazing! We got into Vegas on Tuesday afternoon after 6 and half hour drive on a charter bus! We checked into Caesars Palace after we got there and it was already flooded with thousands of Paul Mitchell FP'S. The first night we were there we were able to go the Awapuhi World and pick up our gift bags, check out the Caper Mall and go see VEGAS!
This first night, we of course went shopping! Me, Mandy, Allison, Ali, Cassie, Robyn, and Jenn all went to the Forum shops connected to Caesars Palace. Its the most beautiful mall ever and we spent a majority of our time in the 3 story H&M. After shopping we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. After that we went walking the strip and Mandy and I went and checked out another mall at Planet Hollywood. But the end of all the walking we were so tired and went to bed!
The next day we had Opening Session and it was incredible. The energy was amazing and we were able to listen to so many amazing speakers like Winn Claybaugh, John Paul Degoria, Robert Cromeans, and Kathy Buckley. We also got a mini surprise concert from Donny and Marie Osmond, and a surprise showing from Fran Dresher. In between break we were running late for getting snacks and ran into Takashi Kitmura in the hallway. I about died. I asked him for a picture and me, Ali, and Jenn all got pictures with him. After that we got ready for the White Party. Its a giant dance party that Caper throws for the students, and its a time where you get to walk the red carpet and get your picture taken with all the amazing professionals that make up Paul Mitchell, this might have been my favorite part :)
The 3rd and final day we had class. We started by getting up at 6 am for breakfast, and then divided for 3 seperate courses we would do during the day. Luckily I had rotation with my friend Ali. We first went to Color class, the Look and Learn which is a hair fashion show by Robert Cromeans (we got front row seats!), and the final rotation was the Cutting class. After that we had Closing Session, where each of the sponsoring salons like ARCS, Angus Mitchell, and Floyd's Barbershop all do a hair fashionshow and we get to see the, cutting the hair in record time, with an amazing artistic show.
After that we loaded the bus and headed home, another 6 and half hours. :/ I was very excited to be home and see my Scotty, but I was so glad I was able to have this once in a lifetime experience, make new friends, and learn new things to make me an even better hairdresser....Rubbing elbows with the famous didn't hurt either. lol
Here are some of my favorite pictures. Enjoy!(p.s. I stole some pics from cassie, hers were better:)
